The Langenfeld/Rhld.-based meterex - Karl Kuntze company enjoys an 80-year
old tradition. It is one of Europe’s leading measuring equipment companies,
offering a wide range of measuring tapes,
folding rules and spirit
levels.
It began as a galvanising plant. After the Second World War the production
of etched measuring tapes started. A short time later the first complete measuring
tapes were produced in the company.
Since the beginning of the sixties production has been focussed on pocket tape measures as marketing aids. The company’s own technical and design developments together with an on-going dialogue with the advertising wholesalers gave rise to an interesting range of articles. Today, meterex boasts the largest range of measuring tapes in Europe. For the customer this means a choice of measuring tapes ranging from a key ring to 50 m tapes in numerous variations.
The meterex range especially prides itself on high quality of production combined with measuring precision, the eye-catching design and the facility to produce customised products according to the customers’ special needs.
Alongside the measuring tapes another “classic” tool is definitely the folding rule. In this area meterex supplies an extensive range of beech wood and plastic. This second product group, folding rules, comprises different qualities and designs in lengths of 1m, 2m, 3m, 4m and 5m.
Spirit levels of plastic, wood or aluminium make up the third major group on the measuring tool range. Beginning with the pocket spirit level of plastic and extending to the beech spirit levels of 1 – 60 cm and to the aluminium spirit level in lengths of 15 – 80 cm, this spectrum is completely covered by high-quality products. Customised products are possible at al times for al products. In-company sample production facilities ensure special production according to customer wishes.

Today the company employs staff not only in development, production and administration. Our own sieve and tampon printing facility with its adjoining repro-department as well as production with modern plastic injection machinery roands off the range of services offered to the customer.
Company management:
Since 01.01.2005 Oliver Kuntze took over the management from his father Richard Kuntze, who is still available to the company as a consultant. Therewith the company's management is in family property for the 3rd generation. His sons Daniel and Leon could well form the fourth generation. It is a bit premature to ask them to do so now, however, as they were born in 1998 and 2000. Solidity, dynamics and flexibility are the successful features of this company and will continue to be so in the future.
